Structured packings made from gauze or Sheet metal are fast changing the way distillation was carried out in the past. Due to the immense advantages this product gives , industry is shifting from their regular random packed columns to Structued packings which are available in the following forms:
Sheet metal packing with specific mass transfer surface areas ranging from 250, 350, 500 & 750 (m2/m3)
Wire gauze packing in WGE and WGP types
Lab packings for laboratory distillation with very high number of stages in 50 and 80 mm dia
Materials of Construction :- Sheet Metal SS 304, SS 316, Ss 316L, and special metals such as Monel, Inconel and Hastalloy etc.
They have very high surface area as well as very high voidage. This implies high efficiencies as well as low pressure drop and low liquid holdup. DIVA S-PAKS can be made for column diameters ranging from 50 to 5000 mm. The packings are suitable for high-pressure as well as vacuum processes.
